Wizz Air Reaches New Operational Milestone with 1,200 Flights in a Single Day

Wizz Air has announced a new operational milestone, operating 1,200 flights in a single day. The achievement equates to an average of one departure every 72 seconds and the transportation of more than 200,000 passengers across 45 countries.

According to Chief Operating Officer Diarmuid Ó Conghaile, the milestone reflects the continued expansion of the airline’s network, the growth of its fleet to 267 modern aircraft, and sustained passenger demand across its markets.

The announcement is particularly notable given the airline’s cautious stance last week, when management declined to provide guidance for the current financial year due to uncertainty surrounding developments in the Middle East and potential disruptions to global transport routes.

Despite these external challenges, Wizz Air continues to report solid operating performance. For the financial year ended 31 March 2026, passenger traffic reached a record 69.7 million travellers, up from 63.4 million a year earlier. Revenue increased by 8% to €5.69 billion, while pre-tax profit rose by 37% to €27 million.

The airline also disclosed that the conflict in the Middle East reduced profitability by approximately €50 million. However, its fuel hedging programme substantially mitigated the impact of higher energy prices.

Reaching 1,200 daily flights underscores the strength of Wizz Air’s network during the peak summer travel season and highlights the resilience of demand for low-cost air travel in Europe despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
