Wizz Air Holdings Plc carried 7.62 million passengers in October 2026, up 19.8% from a year earlier, as the low-cost carrier continued to expand its route network.

Seat capacity rose 22.1% to 8.36 million, while the load factor fell 1.7 percentage points, from 92.9% to 91.2%.

In the 12 months to the end of October, Wizz Air carried 80.59 million passengers, up 19.6% from the previous 12 months.

Seat capacity outpaces passenger growth

Wizz Air carried 7,624,319 passengers in October, up from 6,362,498 a year earlier. Available seats rose from 6,846,498 to 8,361,193. Capacity grew faster than passenger numbers, pushing the load factor down.

Over the 12 months, seat capacity rose 20.1%, from 73.89 million to 88.71 million. Passenger numbers rose from 67.39 million to 80.59 million, while the load factor slipped from 91.2% to 90.8%.

New bases and flights in Spain

Wizz Air plans to open bases in Madrid and Valencia in the first week of November, with three aircraft serving 16 routes. In October, it launched year-round flights from London Luton to Málaga, Granada and Asturias (Oviedo), bringing the number of Spanish destinations it serves from the airport to ten.

Following the suspension of high-speed rail services between Madrid and Andalusia, Wizz Air will add two daily round trips on its routes from Madrid to Málaga and Seville. The flights will run from 6 November to 13 December, with fares capped at €99.99.

Amadeus deal and new routes to Egypt

In October, Wizz Air signed a distribution agreement with Amadeus. Its Ticketless Access service gives travel agencies, tour operators and travel management companies in selected markets access to the airline’s fares and ancillary services.

The airline also launched ten routes from five Polish airports to Egypt for the 2026/27 winter season.

Total CO₂ emissions rise

October CO₂ emissions rose 14.5%, from 536,652 to 614,604 tonnes. Emissions per passenger-kilometre edged up 0.2%, from 49.2 to 49.3 grams.

Over 12 months, total emissions rose 10.9%, from 5.96 million to 6.61 million tonnes, while emissions per passenger-kilometre fell 2.5%, from 51.0 to 49.7 grams. The airline says its figures exclude any emissions savings from sustainable aviation fuel.

Andrievskii Verdict

Wizz Air plans to publish results for the six months ended 30 September 2026 on 12 November. It operates a fleet of 275 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft and continues to expand its network. October’s figures show that the airline added seats faster than it added passengers. Investors will look to the results to see what the expansion has meant for revenue, costs and profit.

When politics gets shaky and the price of jet fuel takes off faster than an aeroplane, a prudent person puts off making a decision until Monday. Wizz Air, it seems, decided to have two new bases open by Monday. Perhaps that is how business ought to be done in troubled times. At any rate, the passenger will have plenty of time to ponder the wisdom of it while trying to work out how a ninety-nine-euro ticket came to cost a hundred and forty.
