Liechtenstein Financial Sector Remains Stable Amid Global Uncertainty

Liechtenstein’s Financial Stability Committee (AFMS) held its 29th meeting in Vaduz on 22 June 2026, reviewing economic conditions, financial sector developments and macroprudential policy issues.

The committee noted that the global environment remains uncertain due to geopolitical and economic challenges. Despite these risks, AFMS concluded that Liechtenstein’s financial centre continues to demonstrate stability and resilience.

Members reviewed developments in the banking sector, including capitalisation levels and liquidity conditions, and discussed measures aimed at maintaining the long-term stability of the financial system.

The committee also considered international regulatory developments, including recommendations arising from the International Monetary Fund’s Article IV consultation and ongoing cooperation within the European Economic Area.

AFMS emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring risks and strengthening the resilience of the financial sector in an increasingly complex global environment.

The Financial Stability Committee serves as Liechtenstein’s central macroprudential supervisory body. Its mandate is to identify systemic risks and strengthen financial stability through appropriate macroprudential instruments, recommendations and risk warnings.

The latest assessment reinforces the view that, despite a challenging global environment, Liechtenstein’s financial sector continues to demonstrate stability and resilience.
